DENNIS SAUER is the Program Development Director of Zero Waste, Inc. He came to zero waste through a strong connection with the land — Dennis was an organic farmer for 25 years. Now he brings the lessons he learned on the farm to the practical, real-world solutions he advocates for through his zero waste work. Experience as a project manager working for the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District (CVSWMD) affords him a keen understanding of waste-based resource issues. Dennis lives in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom with his partner Nicole and dog Flip in an off-grid, straw-bale home of their own construction on a 30-acre homestead they are developing according to permaculture design principles.

CATHY DONOHUE is a writer, editor, and environmental communications specialist working with Zero Waste Inc. to develop its marketing materials. With more 17 years of experience, Cathy has taught environmental education, edited a bimonthly magazine, and helped people and organizations to tell their stories through a variety of venues, including books, donor solicitations, and brochures. She has worked on communications projects with the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District since 1999. In this capacity, Cathy developed, in conjunction with Salamander Designs, the marketing and education pieces critical to the District's zero waste organics programs, as well as educational kits for schools and an illegal burning prevention campaign. She holds an M.S. in Environmental Communications from Antioch New England Graduate School and a B.S. in Magazine Journalism from Syracuse University. Donohue lives in central Vermont with her husband where they garden and steward 12 acres of field, forest, and wetland.
